a bit of comic relief

Running ridiculously late today did have an upside ..

There were all were, the stragglers getting on the 8:51 train into the city, (I usually start at 8am) people finishing off their hair and make up, scanning through their blackberries or just trying to stay awake, and then a funny old man perched himself on the seat behind me. For the next 10 minutes I was treated to running commentary of the all the sights and sounds during our commute. Personal favourites included:
  • the train races: sounding like a quick talking racing commentator, “and the train comes along the outside lane…aaaand he fliiies past!!”
  • like a liarbird, chiming along with anyone’s ringtone or message alert and swooooooshhhhing when the doors open. Oh, boy was he good.
  • And being so kind as to let people know which side of the train’s doors would open, and getting it wrong. Every time.

Thank you to the golden oldie for the entertainment. I should be late more often

Go on, get out there, see austraaayia.

I’ve been battling with the ‘to go or not to go’ for a run for the past… well… lets just say a while.

Its too damn cold and dark to go in the mornings and its… pretty much too damn cold and dark to go in the evenings… options are endless really!

The only hard part is just putting the runners on.. because once you’re out there you think “ohhh isn’t this lovely! Why don’t I do this all the time??” especially when you have a track like this…

Give the cougars at Riva a wave while you’re there..

So, I’ve decided to have a warm glass of cement, harden the fudge up… put on a bit of bob marley and pretend I’m in the tropics.

Winter exermaaaciiiiise here we come!!!

what AESOPhistocated idea..

Bonus #1 on working on Bourke Street: Bourke Street Mall lunchtime adventures.

Aesop are the stars of the Myer windows this month and boy have they kicked a goal.

organised vs disorganised = fabulous

One person's trash..

Found this old wooden chest on the nature strip and thought it needed a good home (I’m guessing this would be a hoarder’s excuse??)

All it needed was a good sand and paint and BAM… hello shabby chic

Warning: although electric sanding may LOOK easy.. my hand would somewhat disagree… I now look like I punched something..  oops.

funny story that..

Thought I’d share the thought process behind verity I presume as a name..

Most of you would think, well, thanks captain obvious, its your name.. well yes, yes it is but there is a funny story behind it.. (holds breath and hopes its not too much of a ‘you had to be there’ kind of story… aaahh well)

And it all started with one of my BFFs Sarah calling late on a Saturday night, and yours truly feeling quite the grandma picking up her friends after their shenanigans **insert 70 year old voice here. My lovely friend jumped into the front seat, and then, with a very serious face, as one would address a cab driver, said: Verity, I pressssume?  In a toffy, slightly slurred English accent

So from then on, whoever was Designated Dave was always addressed in the same way, and the joke has stuck.

It just goes to prove its worth roaming around the streets of Melbourne in your trackies or even quite possibly your pjs because it will no doubt end with a good laugh.

its a little bit fancy

hardware lane: melbourne's stone cobbled, romantic little hideaway full of cafes and bars just got better..

welcome La Bell Miette, a gorgeous patisserie specialising in macaroons.. YUM.

this fabulous shop adds to the lane's already Parisian feel and is a welcome escape from Melbourne's hustle and bustle.

the people are friendly, the macaroons are amazing, even the carry boxes are worth keeping.

this place is too close to work for my own good.

LOVE.

message in a bloggle

stumbled across a gorgeous initiative created solely to brighten a strangers day.. aaww.. warm and fuzzy.

all it takes is finding a scrap piece of paper, the back of a tram ticket.. heck, maybe even a pizza box, and write a message of love, hope, insight or just something silly. People have been sticking these little 'pick me ups' all over the place and posting them on the blog below

http://theblossomingthoughtproject.tumblr.com/ ..... have a geezer in your spare time

well colour me happy..

How adorable are these little chubbers.. (not sure about the name though..) Grazia had a story on them last week and I WANT ONE.
Love the crayon design, it unleashes the inner child.. but hopefully with better precision when it comes to keeping it in the lines.. ;)

MUCH better than the gooey gloss that ends up all through your handbag too.. deeeeelightful..

birds ARE attracted to shiny objects..

Holy heck... its not even 10:30 and self control has left the building.

firstly.. had myself a delicious and nutrious croissant for breakfast.. hey, it had ham and cheese, so that's today's essential dairy and protein ticked off.

good rationalising.

and then... got introduced to yet another clothing website promising BIG SALES.. its funny how you can justify something expensive just because it used to be really really expensive..

but as the ad says, i can wear it day AND night.. so its paid for itself really..

go on... spoil yourselves

I'll take it!

alllllllll of it.

something to take the edge off

If you haven't got onto glasshouse candles.. I suggest you do.. its like heaven on a ummmm... candle. seriously. especially on a sunday arvo kicking back on the couch reading a good book... actually its sunday, lets be honest it'll probably be a mag.. the more trashy celeb pictures the better.

Personal fave is coconut lime. Its got the warm relaxing coconut but the real hero is the lime. i never thought I'd say this but yes. coconut can be quite overpowering... says she who lathers up in coconut oil on the beach like its going out of fashion.. but yes, the lime is a welcome and worthy addition

smell ya later...

all the leaves are brown...

Autumn is (usually) such a beautiful time of the year, Exhibit A, taken in my lovely street.. but us poor melbournians have been experiencing more of Exhibit B...

warms the cockles doesnt it...

why hello there..

afternoon all..

hope everyone is enjoying what some would call a 'crisp' melbourne afternoon. I personally would call it a cold, dull, may as well be back in london kind of afternoon. BUT.. due to such craptastic weather.. and a quiet day at the office, it has prompted me to finally set myself up a little blog - somewhere where i can share beautiful, funny, yummy, silly, (most likely sparkly) things from places i'd rather be than the ollllllll' work desk.

enjoy!
